Composition of embossing machine

A flower press typically consists of several key components working together to flatten and dry flowers effectively.  

The core elements include two rigid boards, usually made of wood, MDF, or plastic, which serve as the base and top surface to apply even pressure. These boards are often rectangular, with sizes varying from small (pocket-sized) to large (for bigger blooms).  

Between the boards, absorbent materials are essential. Blotting paper, newspaper, or paper towels are used to soak up moisture from the flowers, preventing mold and ensuring proper drying.  

To apply consistent pressure, clamping mechanisms are employed. This can range from simple bolts and wing nuts that tighten the boards together to spring-loaded clamps or even heavy books (in basic versions). Some advanced presses may use adjustable screws to control pressure levels, suitable for different flower types.  

In some cases, ventilated layers are included to enhance air circulation, speeding up the drying process. These layers might be made of mesh or perforated cardboard, allowing moisture to escape more efficiently.  

Overall, the combination of rigid boards, absorbent materials, and pressure-applying components enables the flower press to preserve flowers by removing moisture while maintaining their shape and color.
